What is lip blush?

Lip blush — also called permanent lip colour or a lip tattoo — places pigment into the upper layers of the skin using a special device and a very fine needle. Unlike a regular tattoo, the pigment sits close to the surface, so it gradually fades over time.

How the procedure goes

1. Consultation — we talk about the result you want and choose a shade for your skin and lip tone.
2. Sketch — the specialist draws the shape on your lips and you check it in the mirror before anything starts.
3. Numbing — a local anaesthetic cream is applied, so the treatment is comfortable to sit through.
4. Pigment — first the outline, then the colour, in several layers.
5. Aftercare advice — at the end we explain exactly how to look after your lips over the next days.

Healing, day by day

This is the most important part, because in the first days your lips will not look the way they will in the end.

• Days 1–2: lips are slightly swollen and the colour is much darker and brighter than the final result. This is normal.
• Days 3–7: peeling begins. The colour seems to "disappear" — don't worry, it is under the new layer of skin.
• Weeks 2–4: the colour gradually comes back and looks natural.
• After 4–6 weeks: a touch-up fills in any spots where the pigment took less, and completes the result.

Aftercare

• Apply the balm your specialist recommends several times a day;
• Never pick at the flakes — the colour can end up patchy;
• For the first days avoid very hot or spicy food, alcohol and lip makeup;
• For two weeks avoid the sauna, pool, sea and sun;
• Later on, use a lip balm with SPF in the sun — it helps the colour last longer.

How long does lip blush last?

On average 1.5–3 years. It depends on your skin type, the shade (lighter tones fade faster), sun exposure and aftercare. When the colour fades noticeably, a refresh is enough — there is no need to start over.
