Autumn pedicure: how to care for your feet in the cold season

Sandal season is over, but your feet need more care now, not less. Why get a pedicure in autumn, how often to go and how to keep your heels soft.

Pedicure at SANLE — well-groomed feet with soft pink gel polish on a white towel with rose petals

Summer is over, the sandals are back in the wardrobe, and many people think a pedicure can wait until spring. In fact, this is exactly when your feet need the most attention: closed shoes, warm socks and central heating dry the skin, heels get rough and nails get forgotten.

Why feet need more care in autumn

  • Closed shoes — feet "breathe" less, friction on the heel grows and the skin thickens;
  • Heating and dry air — skin loses moisture and heels can crack;
  • "Nobody sees them" — nails and cuticles get neglected, and by spring there is far more work to do;
  • After summer — sun, sea and sandals tire your feet, so the first autumn pedicure is a kind of "recovery".

Classic or gel polish — which to choose in the cold season

  • Classic pedicure (from 55₾) — nail shape, cuticles, heel care and clean, well-kept feet. Ideal if you give your nails a "rest" in winter.
  • Pedicure with gel polish (from 75₾) — the same care plus durable, glossy colour that lasts for weeks. A good choice for the gym, the pool, the holidays or simply for yourself.

This winter's trending shades are soft nude, milky white, wine and deep red. More about the difference in our pedicure article.

How often to get a pedicure in autumn and winter

  • Classic pedicure — every 4–5 weeks;
  • Gel polish pedicure — every 3–4 weeks, before the nail grows out noticeably;
  • If your heels are very rough — book the first two visits closer together, then switch to your usual rhythm.

Foot care at home between visits

  1. Moisturise every evening — rub a rich cream into your soles and heels (not between the toes);
  2. Once a week gently smooth the heel with a pumice stone or foot file — on dry skin, without force;
  3. Cut nails straight — don't cut deep into the corners, so the nail doesn't grow in;
  4. Take off wet shoes promptly and dry well between your toes;
  5. Choose cotton socks — your feet sweat less.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a pedicure at SANLE?

Classic pedicure — from 55₾, pedicure with gel polish — from 75₾. All prices are on the services page.

Do I need a pedicure in winter, when no one sees my feet?

Yes. In the cold season the skin dries out more and heels get rough. A regular pedicure keeps your feet soft and healthy, and in spring you won't need a "big repair".

How long does gel polish last on toes?

Usually several weeks — toenails grow more slowly than fingernails, so gel polish on the feet often stays neat for longer.

Can I have a pedicure and manicure in one visit?

Yes — add a second treatment when you book.

How long does a pedicure take?

In the booking system both the classic and the gel polish pedicure are planned for about 40 minutes.
