Shellac manicure in Tbilisi: how it is done, what it costs and how to care for it

How a shellac (gel polish) manicure is done step by step, what shellac manicure and pedicure cost at SANLE, how to prepare and what to do in the first days.

Shellac — French manicure on the UV lamp, SANLE work

Shellac — gel polish that sets under a lamp — is today's most popular kind of manicure: your nails leave the salon already dry and glossy, and the finish stays neat for weeks. Here is how shellac is done step by step, what it costs at SANLE and how to care for it so it lasts.

What shellac is

Shellac is a gel-based polish that does not air-dry but sets under a special UV/LED lamp. That is why the finish is hard and shiny, and you can get straight back to your day — no waiting for polish to dry.

How shellac is done — step by step

  1. Shape — the specialist files your nails to the length and shape you want: oval, almond or square.
  2. Cuticle care — the cuticles are carefully treated so the polish sits neatly at the base of the nail.
  3. Surface prep — the nail surface is prepared so the shellac grips it well.
  4. Base — a base coat is applied and set under the lamp.
  5. Colour — the colour usually goes on in two thin coats, each set under the lamp.
  6. Top coat — the final protective layer gives shine and strength.
  7. Oil — finally, oil goes on the cuticles to soften the skin.

How to prepare for your visit

  • If you still have old shellac on, mention it when booking — the specialist will remove it properly;
  • Don't peel old polish off at home — the top layers of the nail come off with it;
  • Think about colour and shape in advance — you can bring a photo you like.

Care after shellac

  • Wear gloves when washing dishes and cleaning;
  • Put oil on your cuticles every day and use hand cream often;
  • Don't use your nails as tools — to open jars or peel off stickers;
  • If the polish lifts at the edge, don't pull it — book a fix.

When to renew shellac

On hands, shellac usually keeps its look for 2–3 weeks, on toes even longer. As the nail grows, a natural line appears at the base — a sign it is time for the specialist to remove the old polish and apply a new one.
